Black History Month Film: “America Beyond the Color Line”

In honor of Black History month, Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church (ORUUC) and Oak Valley Baptist Church (OVBC) will partner to host a film series on Friday evenings in February. The selected films cover a wide range of African American stories and cultures. These events are free and open to the public. All events will begin with light refreshments at 6 pm with screenings starting promptly at 6:30.

OVBC will host the final two screenings in the Fellowship Hall on February 17 and 24. The church is located at 194 Hampton Rd in Oak Ridge.

On February 24 at OVBC, the final film in the series will be “America Beyond the Color Line” with Henry Louis Gates Jr. “The evolution of African American society has split into two distinct communities, the privileged and the disenfranchised,” said Gates. Through numerous personal interviews he examines the past, present and future of black/white race relations in the USA.”
