Sanctuary Church Proposal
ORUUC is considering declaring itself a sanctuary church, and becoming a part of the sanctuary church movement.
In accordance with the ORUUC Bylaws, taking a public stand requires a congregational vote and must be preceded by three congregational forums where members can learn more about the proposal and discuss their opinions and concerns, both for and against the proposal.
The congregational forums are scheduled for Tuesday September 5 at 11:30 am, Thursday September 14 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, September 24 at 12:30 pm. All forums will take place in the ORUUC sanctuary.
Here are links to resources that may be helpful in understanding the basis for the proposal. This is not an exhaustive list so please feel free to research further as you see fit. To review one of the resources, just copy the link into your internet browser.
