Your Caring Coordinators for the month of May are
Nancy Feldman and Madge Newton.
Pastoral care is an important element of the ministry of ORUUC.
For pastoral counseling, or in a crisis, please contact the Minister at the church. Other pastoral care and support is provided by the Lay Pastoral Care Associates and the Caring Committee.
Lay Pastoral Care Associates
This group provides emotional support to members of the ORUUC community who are going through difficult times. It is staffed by trained lay members of ORUUC.
The program is intended for persons:
Needing help because of acute or chronic stress due to the deaths of loved ones
Illnesses affecting themselves or loved ones
Life transitions such as divorce
Other situations where support and caring are needed.
Referral can come from the individual, a family member, a friend, the minister, etc.
Support may occur through face-to-face meetings, or by telephone, e-mail, etc.
For someone to talk to, please contact the Lay Pastoral Care Associates Coordinator, Duane Starr, or the church office.
Caring Committee
The Caring Committee assists those in the ORUUC community who may need a little extra help with more tangible concerns. Committee volunteers can:
Provide transportation to medical appointments, church, or for grocery shopping
Grocery shop or run errands for someone who is ill.
Provide occasional meals
Do minor home repairs or occasional lawn work.
l
Provide medical and home health equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and bathing chairs to individuals who need them.
Provide baby care equipment such as portable cribs.
Two Caring Coordinators are on call each month (listed in the Exponent, On-line News, and Order of Service) and arrange for what is needed. Individuals may call them directly or call the church office or Judy Van Winkle, Caring Committee Chair, for contact information. A few days notice of need before the event is most appreciated.
If you or a church person you know needs help, please call the Caring Coordinator or the church office. Unless we know, we can’t respond.
