Sunday Morning Worship: What If…? A Practice of Courage and Possibility

  • Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike Oak Ridge, TN, 37830 United States (map)

Understanding our strengths and leaning into those personal assets can offer powerful strategy for navigating challenges and exploring new possibilities. Drawing on strengths-based and positive psychology, CliftonStrengths, our UU values, and a few hard-earned lessons about getting unstuck, we’ll consider what might happen if we have the courage to imagine that there may be more possibilities (and more goodness and light and joy and hope) than we can currently see. (Spoiler alert: This sermon might apply to your work and play and well-being and faith and service/justice work and the whole wide world!)

Join us for our October Worship Series, Courage, at 10:00 EDT this morning in person and on Zoom as Guest Speaker Crystal Colter shares her message, “What If…? A Practice of Courage and Possibility”. If you are attending the service by Zoom, please install the Zoom app on your device and use Meeting ID: 890 7958 2989. We will begin admitting guests at 9:45 a.m.

Please email or text Prayer Requests to: joysandsorrows@oruuc.org.

The Share-the-Plate recipient for the month of October is the Child Advocacy Center of Anderson County. Center staff provide forensic interviews, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and other victim services, including education and advocacy to around 500 children each year. ORUUC's support of the Child Advocacy Center has helped many children heal and recover from traumatic abuse, thus supporting the dignity and worth of each child served. Please GIVE HERE as you are willing and able, or text “ORUUC” to 73256.

After worship, you’re invited to enjoy coffee and conversation in the Social Hall. Youth and Adult Faith Formation classes meet from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Find out more about our regular Faith Formation opportunities for adults here: http://www.oruuc.org/faith-formation-for-adults and children and youth here: http://www.oruuc.org/religious-education. The nursery is available during worship and second hour.

Masks are not required in the building; however, they are available, along with hand sanitizer, in various locations throughout the church. We encourage you to assess your personal health risks and do what makes you feel comfortable, whether that means wearing a mask or worshiping with ORUUC from home on Zoom. We appreciate your continued cooperation as we work to keep our community safe and healthy.

We welcome you to be part of this time with us, and we look forward to seeing you in person or on Zoom.
