Faith Formation for Adults
At the heart of faith formation for adults, as for children and youth, is belonging to a small group where you are truly known and you know others. In Faith Formation groups, three things happen: you learn and grow, you care for one another, and you serve causes and people beyond yourself.
One of the first things we ask you to do when you become involved at ORUUC is to find your group.
Adult Faith Formation happens by joining a small group where you learn, serve, and care together. There are many such groups, some of which meet during Faith Formation Hour on Sundays following the service. Some meet weekly, others once or twice a month.
Reflections
The Reflections group hosts a conversation on the sermon topic every Sunday during the Faith Formation Hour (11:15-12:15) in the conference room. All are welcome to join in.
Circles of Trust
These small groups of 6-8 people meet for an hour twice a month, allowing you to make connections and get to know fellow members on a deeper level. To enroll, please fill out this online form.
Zentangle Group
The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called "tiles." We call them tiles because you can assemble them into mosaics.
ORUUC Instructors Nancy Starr and April Garner offer an hour-long beginners class during Faith Formation Hour (11:15-12:15) on first and third Sundays, along with a regular class every Sunday afternoon from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome to join in! Peaceful Yoga
This practice is free, and will begin at 11:15 a.m. Sundays in the pavilion. No experience is required and everyone is welcome regardless of physical conditioning, body shape, or limitation. No equipment is needed, but if members have their own mat, they are encouraged to bring it. The plan is to meet each Sunday, and depending on interest and teacher availability, it may be expanded to include one evening a week.
Fiber Arts Group
Open to all knitters and crocheters, and those interested in learning a craft! All are welcome! Bring your latest project! This group meets first and third Sundays during Faith Formation hour.
EMBERS (Earth Mindfulness Based on Earth Religions and Spirituality)
The EMBERS Group meets second Mondays at 6 p.m. in the Hearth Room. This group is open to anyone interested in Earth Mindfulness Based on Earth Religions and Spirituality.
